Trend Report: Highlights from High Point Market
Hello friends! We’ve just returned from our annual trip to High Point Market, and I’m thrilled to share some of the most inspiring interior design trends we discovered. This year’s market was filled with stunning design innovations, from colorful upholstery to creative lighting installations, and I can’t wait to incorporate some of these into our upcoming projects.
Lighting: The Jewels of the Home
As many of you know, I absolutely love lighting—it’s like the jewelry of any room, adding character and ambiance in a way that few elements can. At High Point Market, we spent a lot of time exploring both new and familiar lighting vendors, searching for pieces that feel unique, timeless, and just plain magical.
Statement lighting installations are definitely having a moment, with designers creating lighting that feels almost like an art installation. These intricate, beautiful pieces add that “wow factor” to any room. From chandeliers that double as conversation starters to elegant sconces that bring warmth and style, the options this year were breathtaking.
Color Is Making a Comeback
Color is back in a big way, and it’s bringing so much life to modern interiors! Everywhere we turned, there were pops of color on upholstered furniture, in moody rooms, and even in the resurgence of painted and lacquered furniture. This trend encourages a bold use of color, whether that means vibrant throw pillows, striking accent chairs, or entire walls painted in deep, rich hues. It’s all about creating spaces that feel full of personality and energy.
For those who enjoy a bit of drama, dark and moody color schemes are also trending, with jewel-toned greens, blues, and reds being popular choices. Whether it’s a colorful sofa or a set of lacquered cabinets, adding color is a great way to personalize a space and create a warm, welcoming vibe.
The Return of Pleated and Skirted Furniture
Pleated and skirted furniture is everywhere at High Point! This classic look has made a comeback, adding a touch of vintage elegance to modern home decor. Skirted sofas and chairs bring a softness to rooms and are ideal for those looking to add a more traditional or cottage-inspired aesthetic.
One of the trends I was most excited to see is the revival of the 1980s fully upholstered slipper chairs. These pieces have an elegant, cozy look, with every part of the chair—legs, arms, footrest—fully upholstered for a seamless design. They’re just so charming and versatile! I can’t wait to incorporate a few of these into my own design projects. They’re perfect for adding an unexpected, retro-chic vibe to a room.
