As the seasons change, I’m relieved it’s finally cooling down a bit after those scorching weeks we had. For us in Texas, it's a big deal to be in the mid-eighties instead of the brutal hundreds we’ve been enduring. This cooler weather has me thinking about fall activities and brings back memories of my childhood, especially the time I spent with my beloved grandmother.

September announced the season’s best was produce ripe and beautiful. We’d visit the markets overflowing with delicious fruits and vegetables, searching for the finest quality for preserving. We’d spend hours in her cozy kitchen, cooking jams, pickling veggies, and neatly storing them away for the cold months ahead. The vibrant colors mixed with earthy tones always made me feel warm and at home. It reminds me of cozy rooms, slipcovered furniture, and that comforting sense of belonging.

I think all these experiences have really shaped how I see colors today. I’m sharing some magazine clippings that bring back those memories and remind me how precious these moments are, even as time passes.
